Product Categories not being found in backed

Joomla 2.5.1 VM2.0F

Imported categories from 1.9 all came across and in correct order - not all product correctly assigned category.

Go to add category to product and start to type name but category not found - I can scroll for the correct name

Another odd behaviour - type S and see the category COMING SOON - plus others with an S (OK there is an S there) type C and COMING SOON doesn't show - bug?

Tested a number of words and ONLY the second word is found eg can't find 'Cat' but will find '- Cat'
