I accidentally posted this originally in the VM1 part of the forum so I'm reposting.

I'm running VM 1.98J on a new Joomla 1.7 site and I can't add a new tax or edit the taxes that are currently listed.
When I am on the "Tax & Calculation Rule" page and I click the +New button I get the following error:

--------------------------------------------------
500 - An error has occurred.
DateTime::__construct() [datetime.--construct]: Failed to parse time string (24/10/11) at position 0 (2): Unexpected character
--------------------------------------------------

The same applies if I try to edit one of the taxes from the demo content. There's a screen shot attached.

It's really getting to be an urgent problem and I have no idea what to do with it. My client wants this shop up soon.

Hmm please give more information, which js is loaded, only jQuery? or also mootools. You can see that looking on the html of the page.

I just created a tax rule some days ago, so we must search in your environment. php version, mysql version, loaded js and so on.
Should I fix your bug, please support the VirtueMart project and become a member

jQuery and mootools are both loaded
PHP Version 5.2.17
MySQL version 5.1.56

If there's anything else that might help, I'll try to find it right away. Thank you!

Update: I upgraded to 1.98k and also tried disabling Mootools, but same thing.

Same problem with the K version, hmmm.

Are you eventually using Joomla 1.7.0? There was a Joomla bug fix in the date format in J1.7.1
Perhaps one of these two post provides a hint how to get rid of that error message:

Thank you!
It was that I had changed date format from %m/%d/%y to %d/%m/%y in the Configuration. I just put it back to the way it was. It's not of any significant importance. Thank you for directing me to the other posts.

I'm running the latest VM 2 and Joomla 2.51.

I get this error too. I also get it when trying to edit a currency ?

I can't see where to set the date format ?

Any thoughts ?

Thanks,
Danny

Components --> VirtueMart --> (Now you're in VM Control Panel) --> Configuration (Picture of a wrench) --> (Now you're in Shop Settings) -->

Make sure "Shop date format" is set to %m/%d/%y

Hopefully that works for you too.

I'm wondering if something worse is wrong ? I don't see this setting at all in this given path (see attached image)

When you try to create a new tax on the "Tax & Calculation Rule" page what is the exact error message that you get?

iDanny

Hi,

I get a page with the Virtuemart menu without CSS (just like the image in the first post of this thread)

Danny

At the bottom of the page I originally posted it says:

--------------------------------------------------
500 - An error has occurred.
DateTime::__construct() [datetime.--construct]: Failed to parse time string (24/10/11) at position 0 (2): Unexpected character
--------------------------------------------------

Please copy and past your error message because, from what you're saying, I think it's probably different than what mine was. You may have to scroll down past all the unformatted menu items to find it.

ok after some more research in the forum, i found that this was a 2.5 compatability issue which has been resolved in recent VM2 branches (2.01 and 2.02)
