Several custom fields with the same name. How?

I have custom field "weight" that is common to many categories of products.
I sell all sort of publicity equipment, each of their categories having a group of fields.
I want "weight" to be part of all this groups of fields, but everytime I add it in another group, virtuemart adds a random number after its name: ex "weight342283644".

So i tried making diferent variants: weight:   weight.   weight-  but I have no more ideas and it seams unprofessional.

What should I do?

Maybe I am not understood well. I give example of 2 groups of fields:

specifications printer          specifications cutter
ink type                                 lenght cuttable
printing heads                       power consumption
weight                                   weight


So I cannot define "weight" twice with the same name, why? or what sholud I do to use a field in multiple field groups. It may seeam simple to not use groups but I have almost 30 specification per product.

Remembers me to another post with the same problem for payment/shipment methods. We just must remove one line and it should work then.

oh, it was not meant that way. It is already fixed in the svn. You can also remove it, just go in BE/tables/customs.php and remove there the line with the unique stuff.

It's strange, but I'm having the same issue in VM 2.0.20b.

What I get is:

parent: Commands                              parent: Interface
child: USB                                            child: USB2013-05-08-07-43-48_

Can this be solved without the tables/customs.php modifications?
