Filter Search results by Category

Looking for help to filter search results page.  If someone searches for "Christmas", on the results page I need either a pulldown or radios buttons allowing the user to show only CDs, Books, DVDs, etc.

Hello,

How do you have the categories set up?
- Are they nested? Christmas->CD, Christmas->Books,...

Have you set any product types?
- Example: CD products have product types "CD", "Christmas"

I can develop a new search filter for you, but need more info.

The categories are nested and I have a product type assigned to each top level category.

For instance every CD has a product label CD assigned to it.  Same with books, sheet music, etc.

I only need to filter by top level categories not by the nested ones.
