yes the jos_vm_category table is loaded both with full and thumb images ( see attached).  Following you can have a look at the code I've added to my browser_header_category.tpl.php page, but still not working. I get a result as attached ( no picture and a broken path pointing to the image). Basically as you can see from the code inspection of the attached picture, the php code doesn't print the value of the variable category_thum_image. Consequently it can't be added to the rest of the image's path and not loaded. Please have a look, it correctly load the category_name but not the category image. ( in red what i have added)

<?php if( !defined( '_VALID_MOS' ) && !defined( '_JEXEC' ) ) die( 'Direct Access to '.basename(__FILE__).' is not allowed.' );

<h3><?php echo $browsepage_lbl; ?>
   if( $this->get_cfg( 'showFeedIcon', 1 ) && (VM_FEED_ENABLED == 1) ) { ?>
   <a href="index.php?option=<?php echo VM_COMPONENT_NAME ?>&amp;page=shop.feed&amp;category_id=<?php echo $category_id ?>" title="<?php echo $VM_LANG->_('VM_FEED_SUBSCRIBE_TOCATEGORY_TITLE') ?>">
   <img src="<?php echo VM_THEMEURL ?>/images/feed-icon-14x14.png" align="middle" alt="feed" border="0"/></a>
   } ?>

      <img src="components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/<?php echo  $category["category_thumb_image"] ?>" border="0" alt="<?php echo $category_name ?>" ?>
      <?php  echo ps_product::image_tag( $category["category_thumb_image"], "alt=\"".$category["category_name"]."\"", 1, "category"); ?>

<div style="text-align:left;">
   <?php echo $navigation_childlist; ?>
<?php if( trim(str_replace( "<br />", "" , $desc)) != "" ) { ?>

      <div style="width:100%;float:left;">
         <?php echo $desc; ?>
      <br class="clr" /><br />
