Dear VirtueMart members,

Now with the new leadership in place you have seen some changes already, especially those following our progress. We are making good progress on the new VirtueMart 1.5 MVC version and as such a "new" roadmap is in place.

The roadmap looks like this:

20-11-2009 VirtueMart 1.1.x will see no further development only security fixes
31-12-2009 VirtueMart 1.0 will be end of life
Late 2009 VirtueMart 1.5 will see a first release either in beta or in release candidate
Q1 2010 VirtueMart 1.5 will see continuos release updates with a focus on reaching a stable release

Now in due time, the forum will also be re-organized and cleaned up. This means:
* All forums related to VirtueMart 1.0 will be moved to an Archive forum
* All 0 reply posts from before 01-11-2009 will be removed
* Forums/Childboards will be merged and/or renamed

Bear with us as we go through a lot of changes but we promise the wait will be worth it. Your support is highly appreciated.

Regards,

VirtueMart Project Leaders

Well, time to backdown from the above schedule. Due to a number of circumstances this has not been feasible. Rest assured, work is on-going but at the moment we cannot give a deadline as I am sure it will be passed again ;)

Once you get all the code cleaned up I really think there is one flaw with VM. I think its very important to have a stock feature for attributes. I know you can set it up with a parent product but this can be time (and space) consuming for stores with many products...not to mention google will index a bunch of the same products that are a different size or flavor.

Love VM so far but I think this feature would be a huge improvement.

So what happened with the projected progress per the roadmap?

Without sounding disrespectful to those who developed VM - is this project going forward? From my perspective as a low-tech user it is pretty good and pretty functional, but many competing products are incorporating things that may be available as add ons, but aren't part of the  core product.  It seems the board activity doesn't reflect the number of assumed users so I guess my question is am I missing a fundamental point of open source or is this a project that the drivers has lost the time to pursue?
