I recently had a site contact me that was needing help figuring out an issue with the displayed url on a couple of products.

Basically the url when at the product showed as it was in a second level category when it was in fact in a root category.

ie.
http://mydomainname.com/multi-track-recorders/live-sound/yamaha-ls9

when it should be...
http://mydomainname.com/live-sound/yamaha-ls9

The site is running
Joomla 1.5.10
and
VirtueMart 1.1.3

Things I have verified.

1. live sound is set as a top level category
2. multi track recorders is a top level category but not published
3. yamaha ls9 is in multiple categories but none are multi track recorders
4. there are more than 200 categories but I have fix the code to allow display more than 200 categories in the product page

I have also just for checking things out...
---------------------------------------
1. removed the multi track recorders caegory and put it back in
2. moved live sound to a 2nd level category of a different category and moved it back to a top level category

As a side note if I click on the menu item for live sound ti displays the path as...
http://mydomaoinname.com/live-sound/
and the ls9 product does show on its flypage but links to the above mentioned url with the multi tracks recorder directory in the URL.

At this point I am not sure what else to look at to try and resolve this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You

I'd turn off SEF & flush cache, as this looks like an SEF problem.

OK following this thought I found they had both SEF and ARTIO JoomSEF
I have turned both off and flushed cached. reenbled only Artio and the bogus multi-track... directory comes back into the url.

Assuming the cat tree is correct, and there are no malformed Joomla menu links to the categories then the error must be in SEF.
I would not use SEF at all.

OK I will try and see if I can get that to work for the customer.

Hope they are not married to the shorter urls.

Thank you

OK so I got them to let me stop the SEF and even after doing so and flushing cache and accessing the site with a PC I have not been on it with I am getting a url that contains a category that a product is not listed in.

This is really starting to seem so much like one of those impossibly can not be things.  Is there possibly anyhting else that is related to VMart that might be an issue or should I be posting in Joomla forums at this point?

Thank you

This may be a Joomla menu issue or you now may be running into something like the old breadcrumb issue. This was fixed in VM1.1.4 and I believe that there were bug fixes to the Joomla! menu system. IN any case Joomla 1.5.10 is known to have security issues. Maybe an
update may fix the problems?

Backup first.

Thank You I am trying to get the customer to go the upgrade route now.

I am finding out now that there has been alot of code customization so this may not be the easiest site to upgrade.

Thank You
