I did this and it is still not working properly. The problem is i can't get my admin changes to work. Is there any other files that i need to go into and change? I can change all product info, etc. but when it comes to config and payments...no luck. I'm just starting out guys so take it easy on me if it's a stupid question.

When you move virtuemart from one URL to another, you have to update the URL settings in your virtuemart configuration. This also applies to moving from or to a subdomain or folder.

To update this file after moving your shop, FTP to your host.
Download    virtuemart.cfg.php
Path to File Here
administrator/components/com_virtuemart/virtuemart.cfg.php

Change your shop URL, and your Secure URL to your new shop address. Both must have either the www. or non-www. They must match UNLESS one is https but it styill must contain the www or non-www like the other one.

If you moved from one host to another, and your thumbnails are not showing
Most of the time you need to re-create the thumbnails. This is done by

Go into your virtuemart administrator. Then to configuration, and then the "site tab".

Disable "Enable Dynamic Thumbnail Resizing?" Save Your Changes
Then Re-enable "Enable Dynamic Thumbnail Resizing?" Again, and Save.

Also Make Sure The Image Directory is 755

This can cause missing thumbnails

ADDITIONAL IMAGES USUALLY IF CREATED VIA THE MEDI MANAGER HAVE ABSOLUTE URLS. SO, after moving from one domain to another, you need to use csv improved to remove the domain from the url. Or you may use myphpadmin to update the product_files list without the absolute url.

here is a link to instructions on moving vmart with Akeebah Backup. (formerly known as joomlapack)
http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=62080.0

The Best solution for me.....thank you, and DONE for my case....:)

hi,
i'm having troubles with thumbs too.. i did all the disable/save/enable thing and renamed in the mysql file the url of images to make them work. full dimension and small thumbs work but not the image in the product page...
here is the image url i get which doesn't work:
http://www.domain.com/components/com_virtuemart/themes/pbv_multi/scripts/timthumb.php?src=http://www.domain.com/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/Bauleto_beige_4dfb9078e7e0b.jpg&w=500

the fact is i checked the same product on the functioning site from which i'm moving and it gets same kind of address (obviously with different domain name..) but it works..
anything to do with timthumb? i checked and folders permissions are the same.

thanks

Marco

It looks like you have some custom theme.

yes i have a custom theme.. do you think it depends on that? if that's the reason (i'm checking every file) why does it work on the other server?

thanks

Hello,
Thanks for very informative thread which helped me with almost all the issues.

Theres one more thing I can't get through.
I was just redeveloping online shop from scratch using the same host but diferent subfolder. Completly new joomla 1.5.23 and VM1.1.9 installation. Once happy with layout I put about 15 products in and then renamed subfolders to match the new one with what the domain is pointing to. Domain voovoounique.com is pointing to folder voovoo. I changed the name of old folder voovoo to voovoo1 and folder with fresh installation to voovoo.
Then I edited configuration.php and virtuemart.cfg.php
Then I edited entries in database table jos_vm_product_files to match new paths to the images.
I was surprised to see only three rows with products while I have 10 with images uploaded and some more without. What could be the reason for that?
Anyway I can see the images and some of the thumbnails on the product pages but cant get the to work on category page?

As there is only few products I decided to maually reupload them from the VM backend for every product. Unfortunately that doesn't solve the problem??
Where else should I look?

category view with products with and without images:
http://www.voovoounique.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=26

product view for the same product displays large images slideshow, but not the thumbs:
http://www.voovoounique.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage_default.tpl&product_id=1&category_id=20&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=26

Thank you for any input
Michal

I havn't moved from one host to another. As I described in earlier post I created new website and swapped subfolder names on the same host. Domain is pointing to the same subfolder.
Just checked as you  sugested. I normally have the "Enable Dynamic Thumbnail Resizing" [off] for the template to work properly. If I now switch it back on I have the images resized for the category page but on the product page instead of normal size image I get small thumbnail.
result of switching it on can be seen here:
http://www.voovoounique.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage_default.tpl&product_id=7&category_id=4&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=9

I know :) that's whats giving me a headache... If i turn thumbnail resizing on then I get small images in the product page; if I turn it off i don't get images at all in the category page...
And to make it clear I want thumbnail resizing to be off... Shall I post in different subforum??
