collecting credit card info

Can Authorize.net be setup so Credit Card info is NOT collected in Virtuemart and instead colleted like Paypal does at their site. My friend does not want to buy a SSL cert.

okay I figured out I need to submit order to Authorize.net in SIM mode. Has anybody done this? I can pay a small fee if needed.
