PAYPAL connect to Virtuemart - no download notice after payment

Does anyone have a manual for this or a resource for troubleshooting? Virtuemart is sending the order to Paypal and payment is completed but then there is no DOWNLOAD response. Where is the code and how do I fix this?

it sounds like your IPN is not setup properly.  Until this is setup correctly and working then the order status will never go to confirmed and the email for download products will never go out. 

if you have other products (not downloads) that you can checkout with and pay for and the order status goes to confirmed then there might be something else wrong.
