Attributes and varying skus
« on: January 29, 2009, 02:40:33 am »
I have created a product, which is a terminal pricing display for pos system.  The end user will have the choice of ording a serial interface, or usb.  SO I created an attribute and called it "Connection" then 2 values, usb, and serial.  The serial is -10.00.  However in the cart, the sku is obvoiusly the same as the product, but it needs to be appended as an s, or u.

I also created 2 items for the product in another attempt to make it work, and in the product select box it says, "Item Name - Attribute Name () Price".I don't want to change the name of the product, just the sku, and maybe have the attribute value appear in this name - then it would be fine. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

use parent/child products - you can then set different sku's for each child product. refer to the manual to do this or go to http://design.markcallf.co.uk for a tutorial - bear in mind that his stuff is for older version of vm. however, the principles still hold
A lot of questions are answered in the VM 1.1 User Manual please read it before asking questions.
