Right now I have the store in test mode.  I still need to tweek the code a little bit, especially for those categories that have less than 6 items.

Here is a list of the modifications I have made:

  • Added a third image size to the products table and supporting forms
  • Added an Image Manager module that accepts three image sizes; for new products the first record is created from the images in the products table
  • Heavily modified the shop.browse.php file to display the carousel of product images; this uses the mootools plugin iCarousel and a mootools effect to hide the category description; this has also been "ajaxified"
  • Heavily modified the shop.product_details.php file to support the Image Manager module above;  mootools is used to change the larger image on mouse overs; also added the mootools plugin slimbox for an even larger view
  • Ajaxified the "Add to Cart" button; required a couple of new files
  • Added a new class ps_ajax, which wraps ps_cart
  • Modified virtuemart_parser.php to not spit out error messages if the call was an ajax call
  • new browse page to work with the modified shop.browse.php file
  • new flypage to work with the modified shop.product_details.php file

I think that is all.

I'd like to hear comment about the operation of the site before I put it into production.

Very impressive - one thing which is slightly disconcerting - when you add to cart (at least in the 2 products I tried) it appeared to me that nothing happened, until I noticed the cart had been populated with the product.

This is a minor thing but I think it would be good if the 'view cart' was visible within the same window area as the 'add to cart' button

Apart from that very good.

A lot of questions are answered in the VM 1.1 User Manual please read it before asking questions.

Thats the same concern I have.  I am considering doing one of these:

1. Insert a div with an image of a gift wrapped present  and have it fly across the screen to the cart.
2. Put the cart in a floating window that is always visible.
3. Use a slimbox/lightbox like feature that will tell the user the item is being added to the cart.

Hello,
         nice site.
I thought you may want to know that although the site is now live, the checkout link still links to http://test.silverpassion.com so no-one can buy anything.

If you did this for a customer it is something they may not have spotted!!

::)
