Problems integrating Protx

Hi

i am trying to integrate Protx with Virtuemart. I have successfully used the Protx Integration Kit to connect to their Simulator. I am now trying to use the Protx payment method as described in thread

I am using Joomla 1.0.11 and Virtuemart 1.0.7

When i click on "confirm order" i get the following responses in different browsers

Firefox
opens a window with the message "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded"
when i close it i get a blank window in the browser, pressing Enter returns me to the home page

Opera
Displays in the browser window
"Not Found
The requested URL /shop/https:/ was not found on this server"
Note my installation is in a folder called "shop" which is directly under the site root

Thanks you for your order a confirmation email .......
Good old IE (YUK!) doesnt give an error and doesnt attempt to transfer the customer to Protx to pay


does anyone have any ideas on where i should look for the problem? I have checked my config files and cannot find anything obviously wrong.
