vmError: The path for invoices seems to miss the correct file permissions

Joomla 4.4.10; VirtueMart 4.2.12 11014; PHP 8.1

We see this error message in the VM Admin area (e.g. /administrator/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=virtuemart): "vmError: The path for invoices seems to miss the correct file permissions Safe Path /home/mydomain/vmorders/"

The Safe Path in Configuration >> Templates is set to /home/mydomain/vmorders/, the folder is there, and the folder permissions are 0755. Can anyone suggest other steps to take?

Never mind, we were able to save the path directly through the database.
