product variants showing in catalog

Hi,

i have created child products using multivariants field

on the product layout everything is working fine, i can choose my variants and the price changes accordingly.

but in the catalog, the categories, or manufacturers layout, every variant shows as a different product, i want only the parent product to show and the variants only be available on the product layout.

what can be wrong? any ideas on how to fix this?

VM version ? Joomla version ?

Using default template ?

New install ?

Upgrading to new version ? From what version ?

these are the versions:

vm: 3.8.8 10472
joomla: 3.9.20

virtuemart is using the default template
joomla is using shape5 vertex template

joomla site was created 7 months ago, virtuemart store was created 4 months ago.

virtuemart has been updated twice but the issue was there before the first upgrade



on the image you can see how the variants are showing as different products

There are settings in vm configuration>shop front that decides if uncategorized products are beeing shown or not. Categorized hild products will be shown in category display.
