Finalize order by email

Somebody asked me to help with this:
When the customer orders something in VirtueMart, VM should send a 'confirmation' email where the customer clicks on a link to finalize/activate the order.
The shop sells quite expensive stuff and the owner wants a second step to prevent fake orders.
Is it possible to do with VM?

Under "shop"-"invoices" you can create your own email. Under "Configuration"-"Emails" you can set  that an email will be sent out, as soon as an order has being placed. You could add your own confirmation link in form of a replay button, or something else. Maybe that could make it?
