Can you have a shopping cart that requests a quote rather than payment?

Hi,

I want to add an extension to my site and I think Virtuemart will be perfect, but I need to know if it can do one thing...

I want people to be able to shop for our products as if it is a a normal ecommerce site, but instead of having prices, I want the items to be added to a basket and then that information to be sent to us to then send a quote to the person instead of having to buy anything there and then.

Can Virtuemart 3 be configured to do this?

Apologies if this is in the wrong place, it's my first time on this forum.

Many thanks,

Kate

You could use the standard payment option. No card fees involved, rename it "quote". I use this for cash orders but it could do that.

Perhaps using a wishlist for virtuemart ?
This don't need prices and some can "share" a list(this can be used to send a quote to admin for eg).
Of course some code have to be changed, but i think it's easier to convert a wishlist > quote as change virtuemart itself.

Another simple option would be to enter 0 (zero) into the product price field. Then the customers see "Ask for price" in the product view. The "Ask for price" button opens an email form, which customers can use to ask for the price. They don't have to put the product into the cart in this case.
