Custom script being erased when form updates

Which file needs to be edited so the manufacturer input tags have the necessary onclick function written in each time the form is updated? I have some javascript that tracks which manufacturer has been selected and loads the corresponding image. My program works fine for the first couple of checkbox clicks, but then gets overwritten by, I think, the cf_ajax_loader for the form. I've gone through every php and js in both components/com_virtuemart and administrator/components/... and I can't seem to track it down.
