Using fancybox throughout the site

In virtuemart, fancybox function works only on certain pages. I want the function will work in all web pages (including pages that are not of virtuemart). I tried to load the file jquery.fancybox-1.3.4.pack.js in the head but I got errors. How can I set it up correctly?
