Testing VM 2.9.8a

Hello.

After installation (with warnings: see attachment) managing procuts, categories, etc looks good at first sight. But Control panel "Home" shows a whole bunch of errors (see attachment 2)

Fatal Error in maincontroller admin.virtuemart.php: Couldnt find file support

In the frontend I also have several layout errors like Product name, short description and price under the image instead beside it.

see also the URL is not good: "subfolder" digitale-piano is missing in the staging1 test site with VM 2.9.8a

When I select the shop via menu button:Assortiment" on the live site I get http://keyboard-centrum.nl/nl/assortiment an in the test site it is wrong:

This is what I directly found. I will find more issues, I am sure. Like the strange supplier at the left side with the hammer drill and saw.

I have destroyed the test website, recreated a copy of http://keyboard-centrum.nl and in the copy, http://staging1.keyboar-centrum.nl   I installed VM2.9.9b

Conclusion: I am not happy at all: 

The first major errors I have collected as screenshots and put in the attached pdf. While I am considering a Virtuemart Supporter membeship, friends of me advised to move over to Hikashop. Which path shall I take?

Few comments
1. Result of installation: installation messages - they are just that .. information that some tables have been altered during the install

2. After installation opening VM control panel shows following header: if you read them you will see the are all for simplepie - a joomla library that has nothing to do with VM or the installation - and it is Strict Standards messages - i.e. your reporting is full up in dev mode - should never be on a production site

3. Old images - these are from VM2.0.x - the 2.9.9 has totally different example data and images (hats )

4. Products listing in VM2.9.9: who says they have to be on the right side? - you have just installed a new version with new templates
If you want them on the right make a template over ride and put them there - or copy your current templates as over rides

5. Detail view in VM2.9.9b: same applies - adjust your NEW templates to suit

6. missing video - plugin missing etc -?

Thanks for your comments, but the upgrades from VM 2.028 to 2.6.6 never had these template nor simplepie problems. I am not on production site but in a staging-test environment, but on the same webserver. So I will further dig in to it

W.r.t. your answer 6: I purchased the plugin K&K Youtube. But in the Extension library I read that the tool is Joomla 2.5 only compatible. To look further I get to this page:

So I paid for a plugin that is available on Virtuemart site but doesn't work in VM 2.9.9b!!!

VirtueMart 2.9.9b (and VM3) are compatible with both Joomla 2.5 and 3.x, and it is expected that the majority of users for the next year or so will use VM3 on J2.5 while waiting for the 3rd party plugin developers to catch up. The usual perceived benefit of J3 is a responsive site - but such VM sites can be built using J2.5 (and I have done so).

Still I have "simplepie" problems, I don't understand, style problems, despite I used template override. But I will dig on. I am not a professional but hobbyist. So it takes much more time for me to get things right.

Joomla Simplepie errors are are related to RSS - and affects other components that use RSS capability too. The Joomla devs should be looking at that.
