VM 2, Joomla 2.5, PHP 5.3.23

Hi all,

I am pretty new here and have a very basic issue.

When a customer registers on my website he should receive an email to confirm his account

Unfortunately this email is not sent for some reason. (even though I can find the data of the new user within VM shopper list)
Is there something wrong with my settings?
Do I have to change this in Joomla or in VM?
And what do I need to do to make it work?

thank you
Marc

Have you checked the spam / junk box?

Please check your mail settings in Global Configuration, make sure you can send and receive mail via contact form.

Hi,

there is nothing in the junk mail folder.

When you talk about mail setting do you talk about the Server -> Mailing Settings?
What setting do I need to enter here? And how can I make sure to send and receive via contact form?

Please assist.
Best regards
Marc

Trying the contact form is just to check you can send mail from the server

The mail server settings you need to ask your host what is required...

normally these problems are a mail config issue.. do u e.g. receive the normal VM emails when you check out (client and admin?)

Thank you very much. I was really a mail configuring issue. It works now. :)

But.... I could only make it work with SMTP (not with PHP nor sent)
And it only work for the registation form. VM mails are still not send >:(

But this might be a different issue
thx, again.

Is your "vendor" email address domain the same as smtp user name domain  - i.e the from email address

There are more and more restrictions by hosts these days because of spam on who can send email from a server..
that is also why fewer hosts are offering php mail.. at least smtp has some authentication

But again - with email problems in my experience they are 99% down to configuration and your host should be the first call - they can see mail attempting to be sent, rejects etc etc - it is all logged
