totally wrong currency symbol

Hi Everyone,
I've a VM2 shop in the making: VM  2.0.24a - JM 2.0.16 where the Euro currency symbol is wrong:

I've searched in other threads but found nothing similar to my issue, does anyone know how to solve it?

Looks arabic. What symbol is selected in Configuration / Currencies for EU?

the symbol is the right one, is there a way of modyfing it manually from the VM files or whatever other solution?
