Right out of the box, VM is not mobile friendly. Considerable amount of time is invested modifying VM to make it mobile friendly.  Are their any plans to make the default template compatible with responsive devices anytime soon?

Maxim Pishnyak

There are 45 mobile friendly templates already available for those who interested in this feature. VM actually IS mobile friendly.

Are they available for free? The VM template I'm using (which is 2.022x) isn't mobile friendly. Testing it on my platforms (iPod, Samsung Galaxy, Android Thrive) the layout is rather poor. Was curious if there was a free alternative rather than using the default template.

I'm proud to say that Brazilian Virtuemart Community realized some time ago free responsive template - http://www.virtuemarttemplates.eu .

And I personally tested mentioned by me 45 templates in http://quirktools.com/screenfly in IPad and IPhone modes.
Responsive design.
And look of category pages...
And transforming top menu...

Was approved!

Good job, Virtuemart Template Designers!

That seemed to have fixed it, Maxim.

Will there be another release soon to fix this issue? Or is this a specific custom edit based on server setup?

Maxim Pishnyak

Really there are too many ways to provide mobile friendship currently. Doing this and any other special customizations by the 3rd party developers is the way to go for the Virtuemart Project.
