Moving VirtureMart website to new server

Hi!

New here so hello

I have been asked to take over the hosting of a website which is using VirtureMart and Joomla, what is the best way to go about this moving it from one web hosting company to another?

I haven't done this before, so need to know whats best thing to do?

Use Akeeba to make a full site backup package, including the database, upload to the new server, extract and install. Then you have a clone of the site in no time at all.

Do make sure that the new server has sufficient resources, PHP min 5.3+ etc.

The new server is all up to date so that should be all ok! shall download akeebabackup and get started!
