VM product images source

Hi there.
Is there a way to make Virtuemart 2.0.20b to get the product images from an external source?

For example a have two almost identical shops one on domain and one on subdomain. I would like to use the product images from the main domain for the products on the subdomain and not to double my images on the ftp.
