Can't add product to category anymore

Hi,

I have a big problem with my virtuemart.
I'm using joomla 2.5.8 and virtuemart 2.18.
Everything was working fine, but out of the blue, now I can't assign categories to products. How can I fix that?
Please don't advice me to update the virtuemart version, it is not an option.

When I try to add the category for the product virtuemart shows me that I have no categories to chose from, it shows only one category "Uncategorized", something like that.

I have done that, but I still have the very same problem.
What can I do?

Three things can cause that:
You did not create categories before creating products.
You did activate somehow multi language and the categories are not in the language table.
The database has some inconsistencies in the product to categories table.
If possible take a look via phpmyadmin into the database. There should be a table like #_virtuemart_categories_en_gb or whatever language. Is that language table there and are the categories in rows of that table? Do both tables: #_virtuemart_categories and #_virtuemart_categories_en_gb (your choosen language) have the same amount of entries? So for example if #_virtuemart_categories contains 10 categories there should be at least 10 categories in the language table too.

Ok,
So I figured out where was the problem from, the space on the server was at 100%, I upgraded the hosting and now it seems to work fine.
