Virtuemart Cart Module Odd Behavior [SOLVED]

I've been working on a Joomla 2.5/Virtuemart 2.0.2b site for a friend, and have run into a snag with the VM cart module. When you click on the add-to-cart button on any product anywhere (scroller, right-column Featured Products, or product details page), the little pop-up box pops up (as expected), and your cart is updated in the module I have displayed in the horizontal menu bar. When your cart information is shown there, it shows the item count, i.e., Cart (xx items), the total $ amount, and the "Show Cart" link, as it should. If you move to another page, or refresh the home page, the total $ amount and the show cart link disappear, leaving only the item count.

Two questions:
1. Is it supposed to do that?
2. Is there a way to make all three things show if there are items in the cart, and only the "Cart is empty" message if not?

I've examined the code in the cart module (blah/blah/modules/mod_virtuemart_cart), but found nothing in any of those files that looked like it would make them disappear like that.

Flying by the seat of my pants here, this is the first time I've done a Joomla site. I am fairly fluent in PHP, though, but this one has me stumped. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I also see strange behaviour with the VMcart module showing and not showing details.

I have configured the module as follows

Show product price? = Yes
Show Product list in cart = No

This gives me a qty of products and a total value without line item dedtails and does not change on navigation

  Thank you, Hutson! I had both those settings set to No. Setting Show product price to Yes fixed the problem.
