Product Categories won't move up and down

For some reason, when I go into product categories, I am not able to move any of them up and down into a different order, no matter how many times I click the little round blue and white arrow.  Any idea why this could be?

what do you have "ordering" set to for categories?

I also had this problem, still havent managed to fix it but If I open the cat itself I can change the ordering from there. Unfortunately I find that sometimes with this it sets the ordering for the cat that I have just moved to the same as another that I wanted it to "swap places" with so its a bag of jelly tots to see which one comes up first

I'm not quite sure what I did, but I managed to get all the product categories in the order I want.  Basically, I manually put in the order I wanted and then click on ordering, everything fell into place them.
