Virtuemart as Joomla start page

If using the VM Frontpage as Joomla start page (by creating a Joomla menu entry with VM Front Page), there seems to be a problem with SEF url (Google and other crawlers seem to have a problem with that too), the frontpage url is normally www.yourdomain.com for example. I have seen that there may be another reachable page which looks like www.yourdomain.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart. That may happen if deleting a product category and the crawler ais somehow redirected to /index.php?option=com_virtuemart. That page does show the VM frontpage design, but no modules for example. If clicking on a category or a featured product (if activated) the following route is correct, so it seems to be that only the mentioned page is the problem. Does the router produce a problem if VM Frontpage is the start page, because .../index.php?option=com_virtuemart is not a sef url and obviously the router does not know about such a page?
