Return Gift Coupon code when order gets cancelled

Hi

When a customers uses a gift coupon and pays by paypal or credit card for example if the order gets cancelled or pending the coupon remains used so is lost.

Isn't there a way to make the coupon valid if an order is cancelled or remains pending?
