Urgent help needed: Custom Field - Colour Chart

Hi, I am looking at using Virtuemart custom fields for a customer site.  I saw this being done somewhere, but cannot find it.  I purchased some VM templates from you before and thought that you will be the best people to talk to and assist me.

I am trying to do the following:
1. Customer Site will sell wigs
2. For every wig on sale, there will be different colours.
3. I want to create a custom field for each product, so that the shopper can select a drop down list and select the colour form a list of max 20 colours. 

It will be great to if possible show images that the shopper can choose from rather than a code for the different colour variants.

Do you know how to do this or if there is a add-on, plugin, etc to add this functionality?

I can create colour options in VM, but only displays in radio button list and it is a bit bad having 20+ colours per product.
