Hi,

I want to update my VM version 2.0.2. But I have buyed a template made for VM 2.0.2 version and when I try to make the automatic update, all the site crashed.

What's the best way to do this? Can I try to update the version using the changelog? (http://virtuemart.net/news/list-all-news/416) are there all the changes in this page, like sqli bugs solved, etc.?

Thanks in advanced,

Juanjo.

Hello

First backup the whole site (best is to use akeeba backup https://www.akeebabackup.com/... the free edition is the best). Then you should install a local installation on your PC using xampp for example. After restore your site, make the update and correct all the template changes needed inside your custom template that is located under joola_folder/templates/your_joomla_template/html/com_virtuemart/*

Also you could use the the following images:
http://dev.virtuemart.net/attachments/download/492/com_virtuemart.2.0.12_layout_changes.zip
http://dev.virtuemart.net/attachments/download/476/com_virtuemart.2.0.10_layout_changes.zip
http://dev.virtuemart.net/attachments/download/456/com_virtuemart.2.0.8_layout_changes.zip

but because your are using a very old version of vm2 and a lot o changes have take place in template you could compare the template files with the newer version and apply the necessary changes (need's some work).

Last you could easy ask you provider to send you an updated template for vm2.0.12

pymoo there are so many changes that you must update - use Joomla's extension installer. As bytelord says, do it on a backup, and then you will need to check/update the override template files you are using. Full canges in output are in the live update information - quicklink is http://virtuemart.net/index.php?option=com_content&id=416  with links to earlier update changes at the bottom of the page.

I would expect all third party template providers to supply a set of updated override files.
