Rewrite Menu Item for Category(ies)

Hi there, I'm wondering if someone could help me with this issue:

The menu system for Joomla writes menu items to categories like this: index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=categories&virtuemart_category_id=7&Itemid=113

I would like it to write category vs categories, can someone point me to the correct file to edit to make this work?

I know the VM Category module writes the url with "category", not "categories", this is also an issue for seo as these two different links will have the same page info.
