Latest products can't show more than 6 products

Hello,

I've got a big annoying problem with a website for a customer.
I want to have the 8 latest products on the Home page, but the module "mod_virtuemart_product" won't allow more than 6 products to be shown.
The whole website crashes. White screen.

I've checked the front-end configuration of Virtuemart. I've set 'Display of maximum number of products on frontpage' to 8 and tried 10, didn't work.
'Latest Products - Number of days to display' is set on 365 days, tried a week, a month, a year, nothing fixes the problem.

In the module, I've set the maximum number of products to 8, products per row 4.

As soon as I set the maximum number to 6 or below, the website works and shows the 6 latest products.

Joomla! version: 2.5.7
Virtuemart version: 2.0.12b
