import data from VM 1.5. Have installed CSV Improved

Fresh install of Joomlal 2.5 and Virtuemart 2 in a test environment first.  Now ready to import data from VM 1.5. Have installed CSV Improved in VM2 and it looks straight forward. Just wondering what is the best way to get the date exported from VM 1.5? I tried the database export feature but it is not a clean export.    I have been reading through a few posts and some refer to a CSV Export/Import component.

says that there should be a link to export/import on the product page, Is this correct because if so I am missing something.
