Length of Quantity field in Cart view

I am trying to make some changes to the layout of the Cart. I want to increase the width of the table and decrease the size of the Quantity field. I have tried making changes to the default_pricelist.php, but can't get the changes I need. Any help would be much appreciated - thanks.
