VirtueMart 1.1.9 stable cookie check error message not working

Hi there

I am running VirtueMart 1.1.9 stable and even though i have "Enable the Cookie Check? " turned on it displays no error message when cookies are disabled.
I have tried this in all latest browsers, no message pops up.

I have the same problem and can not add products or go to my cart page to check out. Anyone knows a solution?
