Hi all,
I am attempting to install the Virtuemart 2.0.8 AIO installer however I am running into the same error and can not find a solution Hopefully you can help.

Version Info:
Virtuemart 2.0.8
Joomla 2.5.6
Host: GoDaddy
PHP: 5.2 (with fast CGI turned off)

The Problem:
I attempt to run the install package using the normal instal process. After approximately 20seconds I receive two error messages:
1) (In Red with a no entry icon) - "Component Instal: DB function reports no error"
2) (In Blue with attention Icon) - "Error installing compnent"
(See Screen Shot)

As expected with every error, but I did check, The AIO component does not appear in the components drop down, nor does it load the files onto the server (checked using FTP).

I am aware that I am not using the most current version of PHP, however due to an issue with GoDaddy using 5.3 exclusively with Fast CGI I am stuck with 5.2.17 for the time being.

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
~Andrew Glover

You do not have enough PHP resources on that shared host. I don't know how to get around that there, as even the PHP version is really too old to run Joomla 2.5 (see http://www.joomla.org/technical-requirements.html ) The AIO component is too big for some hosts.

My settings are http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=102045.msg339125#msg339125

I dealt with a similar case on a shared 1&1 server where we had to use Akeeba to copy the site to localhost, upgrade there, and then use Akeeba again to copy the site back to the host, where it worked OK -  he was using PHP5.3

Before wasting more time there will be a bugfixed VM2.0.8b available very soon.

Unfortunately I am stuck with PHP 5.2.17 until Go Daddy will allow for PHP 5.3 to run on their shared server Without Fast CGI as I have run into a problem using it (http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=102112 ). As far as the resources are concerned, I'm fairly certain that the settings meet and exceed those that you pointed me to.

So my question is this, is there a way for me to manually load the AIO component via FTP onto the site. Last time I tried this, it didn't work to well.

Did you tried the manual install?

Hi Andrew ,

what I do is expand the folder
* then FTP both files to the server Via FTP into the public folder or home folder
*then open VM2 and find Extensions : use install from URL and type this with your website name :    http://www.yoursite.com.au/com_virtuemart.2.0.8.b.zip ( the uploaded zip file.
* do both files
* I tried temp/ one but it gets stuck for me sometimes -

* see how you go.

Hi - I'm having an issue updating to AIO 2.0.20b
The server (dreamhost) has recently changed 'something' and all of a sudden the flexibility is gone.
• Unable to create destination folder

Attempting to update via URL in Joomla extension manager fails, whether tar file is uploaded to tmp or main folder.

I'm running Joomla 2.5.9 with VM2.0.20b (just updated from 2.0.18a) - all directories are writable
Database Version    5.1.53-log
Database Collation    utf8_general_ci
PHP Version    5.3.13
Web Server    Apache
WebServer to PHP Interface    cgi-fcgi

I've tried everything I can think of.
I'm wondering whether the structure of the tar or zip file is correct as well.
If I was certain about where all of the udpate files go once unpacked, I'd upload them one by manually if needs be.

Is anyone able to help?  I'm rather stuck.

Thanks. :)
