Increase the length of the field "product_desc", Table: virtuemart_products_es_e

Hello,

I need increase the length of the field "product_desc", Table: virtuemart_products_es_es, Type:varchar(18500)
I have changed the field to type TEXT, to allow greater length, but i have a problem:
When I  made changes in the configuration of Virtuemart, for example enable or disable the  VirtueMart CSS, always is altered the table to the original structure.

Is it possible to prevent this change?
