Integrate Virtuemart to joomla 1.5

Hi!

I am a noob for virtuemart, so I have a question if is possible to install Virtuemart to joomla 1.5?
With donwload the Virtuemart package I get an module/component, to integrate to my joomla website?

tomassus if this is a new site do not use Joomla 1.5 as official support from Joomla.org for that version stops next month, having reached "end of life".  So start with Joomla 2.5.3

Maybe I will use joomla 1.6 or 1.7, but there is very little offer of good non-commercial compunents like in the 1.5.

Joomla 1.6 and 1.7 are both already past end of life. The number of components for J2.5 is increasing daily.
