Products not showing under categories.

I now have a complete new install and it looks great. Have uploaded categories and products. Have checked category config and product config. Products look good and appear in search on site. The problem is, products do not appear under category on backend or frontend. I cannot figure out why. All categories show (0) products but the products show they are listed in the category. I am fairly new to Joomla and VM but should be able to figure this out but no luck. Please help!
