How to Control Additional Images on Product Pages?

I have a hero image which shows the front side of a product.  The additional image that I have shows three sides of the product, including the front side, which is in the hero image. 

I want to only display the hero image once, I do not want it to appear in the "Additional Images" area.  Is there a way to configure this?  I did not see an option for it in the media manager.
