Need help with query reduction

Joomla, a few addon modules, and virtuemart make a lot of queries all together.  I would like to reduce the number of queries virtuemart makes.  After looking at the code I think the OO model of programming ends up making far too many queries than what is actually necessary.

Can anyone help reduce and optimize the queries?  Or point me in the direction of posts and fixes made by other members?  Let me know.

PS. Only using a few necessary modules at the moment which aren't making that many queries.

What is the average number of queries for sites running virtuemart?  Will my queries increase as I add more products?  Thanks.
