mod_virtuemart_cart_tf issue

My fresh install was causing a white screen.

By using strace I saw multiple calls related to the module virtuemart_cart_tf before the error occurs which seems to be the one causing the issue:
[pid 44939]      0.000097 openat(AT_FDCWD, "/public_html/modules/mod_virtuemart_cart_tf/mod_virtuemart_cart_tf.php", O_RDONLY) = 13

I disabled that module by renaming the files in its folder (public_html/modules/mod_virtuemart_cart_tf).

What is "mod_virtuemart_cart_tf"?
Is it necessary?
What could be the conflict?
