product packaging weight not added to total order weight

I sell bagged herbs by weight. The bag the product is packaged in weighs x grams.
ie. 1 Kg of product is packaged in a seal bag which weighs 0.1 kg.
At the moment I just entered 1.1kg as product weight, but it would be much cleaner to seperate the product weight and packaging weight. However when VM calculates the total order weigth to determine the applicable shipping method, VM sums up the total weight of the products without the packaging.
Is there a way to include the packaging in the total weight to determine the shipping method?

Hack for any shipping plugin and add packaging to calculate weight order total.
So we adjusted ourselves.
