Does the "Daycounts migrator" allow me to move my current store to another template?  I have been using gavick templates, but now I want to move to another and will be using a quickstart.  Is it possible to move my store to the new template?  Is "Daycounts migrator" the only way to do this?  I would be going from VM2 to VM3.  It says that Daycounts is for VM1 to VM2or VM3.

No, you should not use a migrator for that. To update from VM2 to VM3 see http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=126862.0

IMHO it would be stupid and overly complicated to use a quickstart package.

Not only am I upgrading from VM2 to VM3, I also want to move the entire store (products, images, etc) to another template.  The link you provided seems to only speak about upgrading from VM2 to VM3 without moving the actual site to another template. I could build the modules from scratch but a quickstart gets the entire site configured in seconds opposed to rebuilding from scratch.

A quickstart also causes dozens of posts to this forum with weird and wonderful misconfigurations and problems

Move your shop to another template???  No such thing .. you simple apply another template TO your existing shop

A template is simply a means to display the shop.. upgrade then install the template

Use a quickstart and you'll set your whole shop back to day zero...  is that what you want?
