Hi

I have a real problem with a new site due to go live Monday.

Everything was fine including restoring versions created using Akeeba 3.2.7 while Virtuemart was at version 2.6.6.

I did an upgrade to 2.6.12.2. After this I made a new backup using Akeeba but when I use this to install the site, the checkout is broken. I can add things to the cart, login a shopper but the Confirm Purchase option is not enabled. The cart just stays stuck at Checkout now and when the button is clicked it just refreshes the page.

If I manually copy all the files to the devsite location, manually update the database using an sql backup and then change the configuration to point Joomla at the database, everything is fine (so far). This is fine for my purposes but leaves the client exposed if they have any problems as the backups are useless.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Michael

have you tried another AK backup -- it is only a file compressor/zipper and an install script after all  - seems unlikely it would corrupt just one file

Hi

Thanks for posting so quickly. Tried stepping back through successive backups made since Virtuemart was upgraded to 2.6.12.2 as there have been layout changes, product additions etc being done in stages.

Had to recover a pre upgrade version of the site based on Virtuemart v2.6.6 then redo all of the changes I had completed to bring it up to date; backups from this are perfect.

I have tried Akeeba latest version and version 4.0.5 with no success if using Virtuemart 2.6.12.2. I still have Akeeba version 3.2.7 in a folder and will try it tomorrow.

Client is testing their live payments system tomorrow so I will use the time to revert Akeeba back to 3.2.7 on another install and see if the backup works from this. Just frustrating knowing if the files get loaded directly everything works. Just trying to find a combination that works.

I tried emailing the Akeeba developer but he responded to advise he could not replicate the problem.

Will post again after I revert to 3.2.7. and attempt a backup and restoration.

Thanks

Does every backup you do from Akeeba cause the restored site to be unable to check out?

BTW , akeeba is just a tool, you can also manually transfer the site by using ftp, import the database and rewrite the configuration file

For site backups only the database is nesscesary if the site files aren't changed
