add to cart does not work on first item of any search result list.

Add to cart works correctly in category and detail views, but when search results are displayed as a list (with add to cart buttons). the following problem occurs:
Clicking add to cart on the first item on the list goes directly to the shopping cart without adding the product.
Clicking add to cart on any other item in the search results list works correctly.
