hi Guys,

I run website youngbull.co.uk and we currently use a theme by gavik pro. We are looking to update the website by installing a new theme. Is it just a case of uploading the new template and activating it in the backend? Will the whole website just switch to the new template seamlessly?

Ive tried doing this with a couple of free virtuemart themes and both have failed. Went from our current website to the attaced image once the new template had been activated. All the menu disappeared as did all the content.

How do i switch templates without this happening?

Thanks  :)

By themes I assume you mean full site templates?

Therotically yes - BUT - there is no guarentee that the module positions are the same in any template
There are no standard positions or names of posiitions - so it is a case of suck it and see

Ideally you would clone your site and test on the clone - check what positions are available in your new one and shift modules around accordingly

though why the contzent would disappear is another question - it is a standard Joomla call in every template
