Attachment to 'pending order' possible?

Hi,
Please imagine such a use case:
1. shop has various payment methods
2. depending on different choices, different payment-templates must be dynamically generated (with order id, etc.) and mailed to the buyer

My knowledge is beginner in VM and just started, I guess I must program this and there is no ready method by which I can make different attachments to the email for order-pending event?

If so, is there any message pumping system in VM so I can observe the event of 'order made' and be able to - before email is sent out - alter it? Any example, tutorial, etc. to point me kindly to it please?
